Last weekend was Lexington's Midsummer Night's Run. It's a 5k downtown, but they also have events for children. The event we signed Aiden up for is called the "Fastest Kid in Town". About a week before I took Aiden for a run (him in the stroller) and explained to him that he was going to be running a race. He was SO excited and immediately wanted to start training (which meant that he ran the 30 yards down the sidewalk). The rest of the run he started singing one of the songs from the Backyardigans "Race around the world" episode. He even sang it every time we talked about the race. It was adorable :)
The day of the race was a lot of fun. The race was only about 30-40 yards so it was over fast. He talked about it all day and got a t-shirt and was even allowed to wear a racing number. Although he only came in second, he was first in my book :). He wore his t-shirt again today and we went for another "race" in the neighborhood. This kid is a lot of fun!!
Gearing up for the big race!
Running to daddy!!
Crossing the finish line!!
We are so proud of him and can't wait to do it again next year!!
